  • Summer Rising

Summer Rising Grades K-8 Summer Rising is New York City’s free school-based summer program for any City child in grades K–8. Summer Rising will integrate the strengths of DOE academics with the Department of Youth & Community Development’s (DYCD) school-based enrichment programming. Students in grades K–8 will get outside, learn, and engage with peers and caring adults in safe, supervised, and enriching ways. These programs will provide a bridge to the next school year and allow students to reconnect with one another and with their schools. Students will address unfinished learning while being provided avenues for recreation, exploration, and fun. Programs Currently Available Find your school’s summer location here. New locations added on Mondays - check weekly for new program sites Schools will also reach out to families to encourage and help them to sign up. HEALTH AND SAFETY Your child’s well-being, enjoyment, health and safety are our top priority this summer. Summer Rising programs will follow rigorous health and safety protocols, including social distancing and mask wearing, that mirror DOE practices. All locations will have access to nursing support and a telehealth center. Parents and guardians will be asked to complete consent forms for mandatory periodic COVID-19 testing to participate in a Summer Rising program.
