Dear Parents, Guardians and Families,
I hope you and your families are safe and well. These recent times are overwhelming and trying but I know together we get through anything. Thank you for your continued partnership, support and dedication as we engage our students in Remote Learning.
Thank you to those who attended our June Parent Town Hall meetings last week. It was so great seeing so many of you at our Parent Town Hall meetings. We value your feedback and collaboration in doing what is best for our students. We will be holding our End of Year Parent Town Hall meetings the week of June 22, 2020. I look forward to “seeing” and speaking with you at our Parent Town Hall Meetings next week.
Thank you for your continued patience as we receive up to date information, almost hourly, from the DOE. As always, information is shared via our website (www.21k100.com), Remind, Dojo and Google Classroom.
The DOE has sent out a Parent Planning Survey on June 12, 2020. You can find the link on our school website, teachers have posted it on their Google Classroom and Dojo and it can be found on the DOE website. This survey will give us important information and data as we plan for the 2020-2021 School Year. We encourage you to be honest and complete the survey by the June 22, 2020 deadline.
As we prepare for the end of the school year it is important to ensure you have created a NYC School Account. NYC School Creation Code letters were mailed out the week of March 23, 2020 to families without a NYC School Account. The NYC Account provides families with information such as report cards, middle school results and Promotion letters/Summer School letters. Report Cards and Summer School Letters will be distributed via the NYC Account.
At our Parent Town Hall meetings last week we discussed the importance of checking our website throughout the summer for important updates. I also asked parents to email Ms. Lucy at email@example.com with a working email address and current address (if you are not at the address listed on the Blue Card). Students will continue to have access to their Google Classrooms which will also be used for information over the summer. The DOE is asking schools to streamline their instructional platforms. Fortunately for P.S. 100 one of the options is to continue with Google Classroom. The challenge is to utilize the student email information to the DOE domain of nycstudent.net, which will follow the child throughout their educational career. We are looking into making this transition as smooth as possible for all. Please stay tuned for additional information.
P.S. 100 has designated the following dates for Step Up Ceremonies/Graduations:
· Pre-Kindergarten Virtual Step Up- June 23, 2020 @ 9am. Invitation to follow.
· Kindergarten Virtual Step Up/Graduation- June 24, 2020 @ 9am. Invitation to follow.
· Grade 5 Virtual Graduation- June 25, 2020 @ 9am. Invitation to follow.
Our Congratulations to the Class of 2020 banner will proudly hang in front of P.S. 100 beginning June 17, 2020. We are also planning a 5th Grade Game Night and 5th Grade Virtual Play Presentation the week of June 22, 2020. Information is forthcoming. Although we would like to celebrate our students in person, at this time it is not recommended by the DOE. We are planning an event for our grade 5 students to receive their diploma, yearbook and t-shirt for when we are able to gather safely. The students will get a chance to see their teachers, their friends and say good bye to their P.S. 100 family.
I held a Virtual Lunch with the Principal with Grades 3, 4 and 5. It was a nice time for all. They appreciated the opportunity and I enjoyed engaging with them. I miss the students! Engaging with them was and is the best part of my day. I will be scheduling Virtual Lunch with the Principal for each grade. Please look for information via Google Classroom and Dojo.
